Investment Criteria

Garage Technology Ventures Canada will invest equity or quasi-equity capital with the following criteria:

Stage of Development

Our focus by stage is on Seed, Start-Up and Early Stage companies.

Investment Size

Our due diligence process works with the founders, our team and our advisors to establish the requisite funding to achieve specific development goals to secure follow-on financing.

The Fund seeks to invest in capital efficient companies that will use capital to develop and execute compelling product-market value propositions and hire the best talent possible.

Location

We are a North American fund, investing in Canada and Silicon Valley. Our primary focus is the innovation corridor that includes Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto and Waterloo. We will also co-lead in this corridor and further west with US-based venture funds, other local funds, and our partners at Garage USA.

Structure

The Fund will structure its investments and its portfolio companies such that their legal and capitalization structures, employment agreements and IP agreements are entirely consistent with U.S. best practices.
